I’ve had the very great privilege of working with Harry Wells (Aldwarke) on a number of different collaborative projects which you can see below, most recent first.
Apart from being a masterful woodworker from whom I am constantly learning, but he is also a wonderful poet. You can find examples of his woodwork and literature on his deviantart page here, or you can go and check out his marvellous Aldwarke’s Anthology blog here.

Blackbird Lullaby
I was awestruck by the beautiful “Blackbird Lullaby” poem written by Harry and the poem immediately inspired to make a pyrographed plaque interpretation of it.
You can read the poem and even more wonderful and beautiful poems and short stories on Aldwarke’s Anthology Don’t forget to like and comment on some of the poetry, or even submit some of your own poems too.

Handmade Coptic Bound Haiku Book
This is a one off hand made Coptic bound book inspired by the wonderful haiku collection of Harry Wells (Aldwarke).
The front cover is bamboo with 5 different veneers, and pyrographed outlines. The back cover has the Kanji for “Haiku” 俳句 pyrographed onto a marquetry cover.

Nymph With Handmade Sapele Frame
Nymph pyrograph burned into Baltic pine wood.
Original artwork by Josephine Wall www.josephinewall.co.uk in this case used for non-commercial use.
The stunning frame was hand made by Harry and is made of sapele wood, which glistens magically like copper in the light.
Work in progress picture for anyone interested in a better look at the burn lines.

The Lady of Shalott
This is a handmade framed pyrograph (wood burning) of “The Lady of Shallott” based on the Alfred Lord Tennyson Poem (1842 Version Part IV). The frame was made by Harry and I did the pyrography and marquetry.

Celtic Cross
This is a handmade Celtic Cross inspired by the 19 foot high 10th Century Muiredach’s High Cross, Monasterboice made by Harry and pyrographed (wood burned) by me.
The Song of Wandering Aengus Triptych
This is a unique handmade triptych inspired by the beautiful poem “The Song of Wandering Aengus” by William Butler Yeats. Harry Wells hand made the triptych and I did all of the pyrography (wood burning) to decorate it with the words of the poem in three verses along with imagery of each verse, one per panel.
